RNA products provide a memory-based alternative to slower spinning media and SSDs , especially in situations where storage is inappropriately being applied or considered to solve an I/O problem. (more) Storage, including SSDs, are 100X or more slower than memory.

Previously memory has been constrained to what is physically on the server which required swapping working data to disk. With memory virtualization, memory capacity can be multi-TB and is sharable across server nodes, increasing the amount of memory available to each node far beyond what can be physically installed in that node and significantly reducing the use of storage as a way station for working data such as historical tick data or risk analysis data.
