STAC Report: RMDS 6 on HP c-Class Blades with Voltaire InfiniBand

Blade results same as or better than rack servers; IB drivers more stable STAC has released a study of RMDS 6 on HP c-Class Blades with Voltaire InfiniBand with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4.4. There are many changes underway in the European markets that are anticipated to increase data rates significantly over the next 2-3 years. STAC benchmarked the latest offerings from Voltaire, based on the OpenFabrics Enterprise Distribution (OFED), with RMDS 6 on HP c-Class Blades. STAC had issued a report in February 2007 covering Voltaire InfiniBand with rack mounted HP ProLiant servers. The results of this benchmark demonstrated that c-Class Blades have latency that is the same or better than the latency benchmarked in the previous tests. Additionally, the latency savings relative to the Ethernet results from rack mounted servers in the February report was as high as 48%. Voltaire has also improved the performance of its InfiniBand drivers from the results documented in the February report. Click here to download the report.
