Click here to review the workshop submission. The Workshop on High Performance Computing in Finance at SuperComputing 2012 (SC12) has selected a paper by STAC, Intel, and Catskills Research for presentation at its workshop on November 12, 2012. The paper, authored by Peter Lankford of STAC, Lars Ericson of Catskills Research, and Andrey Nikolaiev of Intel, provides an overview of the STAC-A2 Benchmark specifications and Intel's early results working with them. STAC-A2 is an architecture-agnostic benchmark suite in which the workload is computation of market risk for options and other derivatives with option-like properties using Monte Carlo methods. Market-risk management is a critical, resource-intensive task for financial trading firms. The industry relies heavily on innovation in technical infrastructure to increase the quality and quantity of risk management information and to reduce the cost of its production. STAC-A2 provides a level playing field for technology comparisons and gives the tech industry a focal point for innovation.
