Fall STAC Summits - 2019

Thanks to all of you who made the Fall 2019 STAC Summits a great success, helping to grow full-year global attendance by a handsome 17% over 2018.

STAC Summits bring together industry leaders from top financial and technology firms to discuss ways to meet important engineering challenges in finance using innovative technologies.

Kicking off the fall events was our first-ever STAC Summit Asia (at the Hong Kong stock exchange, HKEX), where we discussed the fundamentals of engineering to support modern data science, the pros and cons of using FPGAs for certain workloads, and the best approaches to time synchronization.

The New York, London, and Chicago STAC Summits covered additional important topics, including: how certain household-name enterprises are approaching machine-learning operations at scale; architectures for training ML models on order-book data in the cloud; the benefits of data simulation for model testing; a new set of open source APIs for heterogeneous computing; proposed benchmarks for the ingest of streaming data; how accurate time sync may transform the way some exchanges build their markets and the way trading firms compete; and understanding network traffic at a sub-nanosecond level.

In addition, several vendors in each city presented the latest high tech to deal with AI, big data, big compute, low-latency, time sync, and infrastructure monitoring challenges.
